Uber Eats launches an AI assistant to fill your shopping cart

Uber Eats has announced the launch of a new AI feature called “Cart Assistant,” designed to fill your grocery cart in just a few seconds. The beta version is already available in the app.

How it works:

  • Once on a grocery store page within Uber Eats, users can activate the Cart Assistant via a dedicated icon. They can either type in a shopping list or upload a photo (such as a handwritten list or a screenshot of a recipe).

  • The AI then identifies the products and automatically adds them to the cart, while allowing users to adjust brands or quantities if needed.

  • The tool also leverages order history to prioritize previously purchased items, creating a more personalized and faster shopping experience.

Runway raises $315 million

The AI video startup Runway has raised $315 million in a Series E funding round, bringing its valuation to $5.3 billion.

How it works:

  • The new funding will allow Runway to pre-train a new generation of “world models”, AI systems capable of building an internal representation of the world in order to anticipate and plan future events.

  • Known for its physics-aware video generation models, Runway recently released Gen-4.5, a model capable of producing high-definition videos from text prompts, with native audio generation.

  • The company is now expanding beyond media and advertising, targeting new industries such as gaming and robotics, signaling a broader ambition for real-world AI applications.

That's it for today! See you next week!
